Mária Bartuszová
22. 11. 2020 – 16. 1. 2021
Prior to the opening of the survey exhibition of Mária Bartuszová’s artwork at the Tate Modern in London, Galerie Zdeněk Sklenář is pleased to present six unknown and never-before shown works by this sculptor from a private collection. They will be presented together by the sculpted works of other artists, such as Krištof Kintera and Václav Cigler, to name but two. The aim is to show the different, unique and original paths that may be found in sculptural thought.
Mária Bartuszová (1936–1996), Czech by birth and almost unknown in her native country, linked her life and work to Slovakia. Today, she is one of the most valued women artists of the twentieth century. Her artwork is shown together with that of other prominent artists, including Magdalena Abakanowicz, Louise Bourgeois, Pauline Boty, Eva Hesse, Alina Szapocznikow. Mária Bartuszová’s international success came only recently, when she was no longer among us…
