František Kupka: The Realistic Abstracting the Abstract

15. 10. – 30. 10. 2016

The exhibition František Kupka: The Realistic Abstracting the Abstract presents a monumental conceptualisation of how our greatest painter developed – a painter who has become a natural part of international art history. His exceptional works from 1902, 1907, 1908, and 1938 date back to a heroic period, during which painters such as Mondrian, Malevich, and Kandinsky underwent a similar developmental process. The birth of non-representational painting – that is to say abstraction – in 1910 was the natural culmination of this path and served as a new impetus in history.
