Flying / Zdeněk Sýkora
The catalogue was published in 2005 on the occasion of the completion and formal unveiling of Zdeněk and Lenka Sýkora’s series of wall paintings, entitled Létání (Flying), in the Air Navigation Service of the Czech Republic’s Integrated Air Traffic Control Centre (IATCC) in Jeneč u Prahy. The publication is supplemented with Sýkora’s biography, a selected list of his solo and collective exhibitions, and a list of his works found in various collections. The idea of placing Zdeněk Sýkora’s paintings in the entrance vestibule of the Air Navigation Service of the Czech Republic’s new IATCC in Jeneč came to life in early 2004 during the exhibition Sýkora 1998/2003 at the Galerie Zdeněk Sklenář in Prague.

First, templates were used to transfer the outlines, the lines were subsequently coloured, but after the required corrections, overpainted with white paint so that the preparatory sketches would disappear. During this work, we were reminded of how many combinations of randomness define the conditions for a specific installation.”
