Zdeněk Sýkora – My Nature

The publication of this catalogue marks the 100th anniversary of the artist's  birth, and documents the exhibition Zdeněk Sýkora – My Nature, which was held at Galerie Zdeněk Sklenář from 5 February to 28 April 2019, and mapped the development of the painter's work from 1942 to 2009. More importantly, however, the aim was to show Zdeněk Sýkora in a different way.  Artworks that are usually not seen side by side were displayed next to each other – structures and lines together with landscapes and spots. In this way the purpose of the exhibition was to shatter the impression of Sýkora as a computer artist, and to reshow him as a painter who made his famous abstract works concurrently with landscape paintings.
The catalogue documents the entire exhibition. In addition to reproductions of all of Sýkora's paintings and photographs that were on display, it includes photographs portraying the artist at work, accompanying texts, and Martin Polák's photo documentation of the exhibition. The publication also includes an introduction by the exhibition’s curator, Lenka Sýkorová, as well as a text written by the architect Josef Pleskot, who designed the installation.

The dual-language catalogue was published on the occasion of the exhibition Zdeněk Sýkora 100, held from 4 February to 21 March 2020 at Galerie Zdeněk Sklenář.
