David Hanvald (born in 1980 in Liberec) is one of the most followed Czech artists from the younger set of the middle generation, and is one of Galerie Zdeněk Sklenář’s circle of artists. In his paintings, he re-evaluates and works primarily with the ideas, impulses, and the work of twentieth century Modernist artists. The result is a distinctive and colourful synthesis of modernist avant-garde approaches with contemporary post-conceptual painterly tendencies, which breaks down the traditional ways in which a painted image is perceived.
