David Hanvald: Discrete Disposition
David Hanvald (born in 1980 in Liberec) is one of the most followed Czech artists of the younger-middle generation and is one of the artists from the circle of Galerie Zdeněk Sklenář.
This monograph was published by Galerie Zdeněk Sklenář in collaboration with David Hanvald to accompany the eponymous exhibition held within the framework of the German-Czech Cultural Days DIALOG 2023 from 11 May to 24 September 2023 at the Augsburg Art Collections and Museums – Hall 1: Space for Art in the Glass Palace. The book was published with support from the Czech-German Fund for the Future, the D.A.D.A. Endowment Fund, and the Statutory City of Liberec.
Hanvald’s creative work to date is accompanied by three texts: two by the German curators of the exhibition – Thomas Elsen and Christof Trepesch – and the third by Martin Dostál. Depending on one’s personal taste, interested readers can choose between two book covers: one is almost monochromatic and represents the geometric aspects of Hanvald’s art, while the other is evocatively coloured.
